Being fans of the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre, talks, books, toy animals, and activities inspired by their animals are integral in our household. Whether you have a penguin lover in your life, or simply if you’re looking for something non-pink or red this Valentine’s Day, these are so cute! And while they are a little time consuming, they aren’t hard at all!
Heart Penguin Cookies
What You Need
- 1 package of Oreos
- 2 cups dark chocolate melts or dark chocolate chips
- 2 cups white chocolate melts
- 3 tbs orange chocolate melts
- Mugs for each colour of chocolate
- Small dark chocolate chips to use as eyes
- Wax paper or parchment paper to cover pan or plate
- piping or ziplock bag with the corner cut
- Toothpick
What To Do
After melting the dark chocolate, drop one Oreo at a time and cover it with chocolate. Using a fork, remove Oreo from chocolate and tap on the side of the cup letting the excess chocolate drip off. Run the fork along the edge of the cup and then slip the Oreo onto parchment paper. Once the chocolate had set (either the freezer or fridge can expedite this process if you’re impatient like me :)). Melt the white chocolate and spoon it into
Once the chocolate has set, take melted white chocolate and spoon it into a piping or ziplock bag (just cut a small hole in one of the corners). Squeeze out the white chocolate
Squeeze out the white chocolate onto the cookies the shape of a hearts. Then, colour in the heart shapes using the piping bag.
Wait for white chocolate to set slightly. Then, place the mini chocolate chips in the place of eyes.
Allow chocolate to set. Then using a toothpick, draw an upside down triangle as the beak.
Let harden and then enjoy!
